What Makes Us Unique

Real personal attention separates West Virginia Wesleyan College from other institutions. We don’t believe "personal attention" is a buzzword, but rather a real thing we put into practice every day. From admission until graduation, each student is a talented and unique member that the campus community supports. A key strength and outlet of personal attention at West Virginia Wesleyan College is our faculty. Faculty members at Wesleyan know each of their students individually and give out home telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. Classes are small (average of 19) and taught by professors, not TA’s. Faculty members at Wesleyan teach and advise, ensuring that each student has their own advisor that knows their personal and educational needs. Students at Wesleyan stay on campus on the weekends, and enjoy great campus activities, performing arts, intramural and NCAA division II athletics, Greek life, community service, religious life, and outdoor recreation. When you graduate, connections to graduate schools and jobs are clear. Wesleyan’s academic reputation speaks for itself, as 90% of students applying to Law School, Medical School, and all graduate programs are accepted. Advising and Career Center professionals connect you to individually suited internships, job search strategies, and alumni that give you the advantage to finding a job in today’s competitive market.

Traditions / School Myths

Wesleyan’s oldest residence hall, Agnes Howard Hall, is purportedly haunted by the ghost of the dormitory’s namesake. Agnes died in the hall in the early 1900’s, and is known to move residents’ belongings, rattle doors, and roam the halls at night. Agnes Howard Hall is the oldest continuously standing female dormitory on the east coast, and the haunting only adds to the gorgeous historical structure’s lore.
