Design is an integral part of the UMR experience - one of the things that set us apart from the crowd.UMR students have built dozens of cars, canoes and aircraft over the past decade. And in the process, they've built a reputation as tough competitors in international student design competitions. With recent national championships in the American Solar Challenge, the Human-Powered Vehicle Challenge and the International Intercollegiate Mining Competition, UMR's design teams have reinforced UMR's reputation as a technological university that offers a pragmatic education and prepares students for a lifetime of success. Students who get involved in our many student design teams learn important life skills: teamwork and leadership, planning and problem-solving, and practical experience that helps build student resumes and pays off in the real world. If you're a prospective student interested in getting your hands dirty building something from scratch, then we invite you to learn more about UMR. From sunbeams to big beams, UMR has a team for every student design competition under the sun.
