Traditions / School Myths

While hundreds of programs and organizations garner strong support on campus, you can’t go far without realizing our students love to support Big Ten Athletics.

The Insider's Guide to Colleges 2006 says "The University of Iowa offers its students a picturesque campus, a thriving social scene, and the excitement of its Big Ten athletic teams." That sentiment is reiterated in this statement from our athletic department “Iowa's fans are known nationwide for their fierce and undying loyalty. That reputation stems from the way our fans support all of the UI's teams and pass on Hawkeye heritage from generation to generation -- from parents to children, from former student-athletes to current ones.

Thousands of cheers make a roar. "GO HAWKS!"
