Lycoming students are attracted to the small community atmosphere at Lycoming College. Faculty know Lycoming students and not only work with them in the classroom to develop their talents, they advise student organizations, participate in intramurals, attend music, theater and athletic events, and host students at their homes for dinners. Whether digging in archeological sites in Cyprus or snorkeling with dolphins in Honduras or learning the business and economic approaches of the biggest cities in Europe, students at Lycoming cite their experiences with faculty on and off campus as the thing that distinguishes Lycoming.

One of the favorite traditions at Lycoming is Turkey Dinner. The Monday before Thanksgiving, the cafeteria is transformed into a restaurant with white table cloths, reservations are suggested, and the faculty and staff - acting as the wait staff -serve students a turkey dinner with all of the fixings. This longstanding tradition is a favorite of students who have a chance to share Thanksgiving dinner with their Lyco family before heading to their hometown.
