1. UT Knoxville Named a 'Best Value' Public College by The Princeton Review

The UT Knoxville provides students one of the best values in public education according to The Princeton Review, which ranks American colleges based on undergraduate academics, affordability and financial aid for its annual "Best Value Colleges" list. The list features 50 public and 50 private colleges and universities. UT was the only university in Tennessee to make the public colleges list.

2. UT Program Looks at Legacies of Japanese Internment

A program on Japanese internment during World War II will be held at UT Knoxville on Jan. 15 and 16. The program will focus on the history and constitutional issues of the Hirabayashi v. U.S. Supreme Court case.

3. UT's James A. Haslam II Business Building Now Open

A grand opening celebration was held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and classes began today. As part of the grand opening festivities, College of Business Administration Dean Jan Williams hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the atrium of the new building.

4. New Lecture Series Hosted by the UT College of Architecture and Design Explores Health Care Design

The College of Architecture and Design at UT Knoxville will host a special lecture series this semester as part of a new course on health care design. The series, Designing Environments for Health, will explore the importance of architecture in the construction of health-related facilities.

5. Two UT Architecture Professors Honored Nationally for Contributions to Design Education

Two professors in the College of Architecture and Design at UT Knoxville have been honored with prestigious awards. The awards were presented by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) in recognition of contributions to the advancement of architectural education.

6. Professor's Work Named Top 100 Science Story by Discover Magazine

Williams' article, which helped explain the amazing diversity in flowering plants, was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in July.
