1. Students enjoy hitching a ride on late night shuttle buses so far

Five weeks into its pilot year at UConn, the evening bus shuttle is proving a popular form of weekend transportation for students, although many remain concerned about rowdy passengers.

The late night buses, which shuttle students from campus to weekend destinations like Carriage House and Celeron Square, run from 10 p.

2. Police Blotter

10/4

David Garofolo, 18, of Seymour, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. at Hurley hall and charged with fourth degree criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance or less than four ounces of marijuana. According to police, officers responded to Hurley hall for a narcotics complaint.

3. Miles away from Storrs

Nate Miles allegedly made some poor decisions and he has been expelled from UConn as a result. And rightly so.

The university, not to mention its basketball program, (or its head coach), has been given a black eye. People have begun to question whether the program is becoming decadent, accepting players of questionable character.

4. UConn fantasy mid-season report

For those of you who missed the first two editions of The Daily Campus this year, you missed the annual UConn Fantasy Draft. Using a scoring system (right) that encompasses all fall UConn sports, I locked myself in my room on Aug. 25 and analyzed the stats of every athlete on campus.

5. Athlete of the Week: Annie Luhrsen

The staff of The Daily Campus will be spotlighting one individual each week whose performance stands out amongst all others. This week, we chose to honor Annie Luhrsen, who received her fourth Big East freshman of the week honor.

Name: Annie Luhrsen

Sport: Volleyball

Year: Freshman

Major: Finance

Hometown: Wheaton, Ill.

6. Editorial: Vehicles should have the right-of-way, not pedestrians

Everyone knows what a pain it is to drive around campus while classes are in session with the traffic, the nonexistent parking spots and of course, the jaywalking students. However, with numerous crosswalks all over campus, there is no need for pedestrians on campus to inconvenience drivers.

7. Calhoun should recruit men, not boys, for team

Nate Miles is in trouble. But he isn't the first one on the UConn men's basketball team who has been arrested, and sadly, he probably won't be the last.

Miles' expulsion from UConn last Thursday garnered national attention, and deservedly so. He is the latest in a string of men's basketball players from UConn who have allegedly broken the law and thrown a negative spotlight on our university.

8. In the November election, experience matters

During the 1992 presidential campaign, President George H. W. Bush frequently told voters that they should re-elect him because his extensive experience in foreign affairs would serve America well in a changing world. For this argument, President Bush was derided as an out-of-touch elitist trying to change the subject from his lack of ideas for helping Americans through a recession.

9. Instant Daily

You know you're an engineer when a teacher expects you to find an answer but does not give you the question.

I found out the hard way that the UConn cops don't like it when you run around at night with a ski mask on, even when you tell them you're wearing it because it's cold.

10. Bruise Boob redefines UConn's punk scene

"There are two types of bands in this world; those that are Bruise Boob and those that aren't. We are Bruise Boob," said guitarist and vocalist for the band, Nick Rogers, a 7th-semester English major.

Members of Bruise Boob, a new addition to the UConn punk scene, haven't been playing together for very long, but they are already making a name for themselves in the campus music scene.
