1. Advent Lessons and Carols

To celebrate the start of the Advent season, Franciscan University of Steubenville will present its annual Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.

2. Franciscan Students Visit China

Franciscan University of Steubenville professors and students who engaged in evangelistic and humanitarian work in China this past summer shared their experiences at a November 13 convocation held on campus.

3. Hall of Fame to Induct 1958 Team

Marking the 50th anniversary of the Baron basketball team that earned the title “Number One Small College Basketball Team in the U.S.” from the United Press Board of Coaches, Franciscan University of Steubenville will induct the players and coach of that 1958 team into the Baron Hall of Fame on Friday, December 5, 2008.

4. Founders and Poverello Recipients

Franciscan University of Steubenville will honor AIM Crisis Pregnancy Center and the University’s Works of Mercy and Missions of Peace Programs for their service to the local community at the fifty-ninth annual Founders’ Association Dinner. The event will take place Saturday, December 6, at the J. C. Williams Center in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery at 6:00 p.m.

5. Vocations Fair Encourages Religious Life

Franciscan University of Steubenville hosted its annual Religious Vocations Fair October 24, welcoming representatives from 93 dioceses and religious communities from across the U.S. and one from Spain.

6. Students Conduct Collection for Soup Kitchen

Franciscan University’s Works of Mercy Program completed a week-long community service project—Harvest for the Hungry—that collected food items for the Unity Soup Kitchen of the Urban Mission in downtown Steubenville.

7. Franciscan University takes AMCC Championship

November 1, 2008 - The Franciscan University of Steubenville's men's and women's cross country teams stormed the NCAA Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Cross Country Championships this Saturday. In just their first season of AMCC competition, the women came away with the championship title while the men's team placed runner-up. FUS had seven of the twenty spots composing the AMCC All-Conference Team team.

8. First-Ever December Commencement

In response to sustained growth in student enrollment, Franciscan University of Steubenville will host its first-ever December commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 13, 2008.
